The menu is a culinary adventure, showcasing a vast array of dishes that cater to both Indian cuisine lovers and those seeking classic English fare. As noted by Melissa W., the menu is extensive, featuring numerous vegetarian options that spotlight the rich flavors of Indian cooking, making it a strong contender in the local dining scene. The staff is attentive and enthusiastic, upholding a high standard of service that remains a highlight for diners.
However, while the food and atmosphere are generally praised, some customers, like Qype User (petele…), noticed small hiccups with service timing, particularly during busy evenings. Yet, the generous portion sizes and quality of the food often more than compensate for these minor delays. Whether it’s a starter, main course, or a pair of cocktails, the consensus remains that culinary delights await you at every turn.

“ Food spot on. Go at least twice a year and always guaranteed nice food and great service. Lovely when they have someone in playing the piano too! ”
“ I'm not the biggest curry fan or eater. I like the taste of it, but inevitably i get a hidden chilli that numbs my face and boom the whole bleedin' meal is a chore. So I inwardly sighed when I got dragged here. Coming through the door it seemed very smart and modern. all the waiters looking savvy and a piano being played in the restaurant. nice touch. The deal got us a starter and main, so I set about trying to find a nice veggie option and was pleased to see that there were plenty. The poppadoms didn't arrive until after our starters, which was a bit disappointing as we were starving, but the food was lovely. The main was a bit hot for me and once I'd removed all the chillies there wasn't that much left, but probably my fault for not pointing out that i wanted it "mild-medium hot", not "burn your insides hot". ”
“ Visited East recently with my partner for birthday dinner and drinks. The atmosphere is really nice, decor is modern and the whole place feels open and inviting. The food was of good quality, portion sizes were generous and like all the other reviews say it was really nicely cooked. The cocktail selection is really good and of the three that I ordered all of them were perfectly made. For a Wednesday night the restaurant was really busy and at times the service was a little slow. Drinks took around 15 minutes to arrive. The starter and the main were both served on chipped plates, which was a let down because everything else in the restaurant was flawless. When we requested the bill it was a long time coming and we weren't advised to pay the cashier in the doorway. In a restaurant I would expect an at table service for bill payment. ”
“ Fire me up Scotty. Yes it's time to inject some heat into this little mother. I need a nice fix of Indian food. We're more than spoilt for choice in Leeds but since I'm in the Pudsey area it's the turn of the East Bar Lounge and Grill. What an excellent venue this is too. It looks the part from the outside and it most certainly does inside. That's because they probably have to. Places like the Aagrah have set the tone is high end Indian eating. Now are you counting, its got three bars so you can have plenty of time to quaff a pre dinner beverage of choice. As for the service, it's excellent. Attentive and friendly and full marks all around. Now for the menu. This is vast! I'm talking more choice than you can shake a stick at and an amazing choice of vegetarian dishes. It really is big and I'm a girl so don't lie about that kind of thing. The sundries will take you a while to wade through as well. It's also pretty cheap for what you get so it's a real player in the Indian eating market. ”
“ A massively trendy bar/grill/lounge as the name hints at. This Indian come English eatery serves fairly standard price food on a very standard menu in wide, stylist and modern surroundings. Service is usually good and food ain't half bad neither. It is a little to hustle and bustle for me but, if you like lively atmospheres to dine and drink in then this is a good place to kick off the weekend. ”
“ Having won many awards, I decided to try East out. From the outside, it looks like it replaced a carpet warehouse when it opened a year ago. It looks swankier than your average curry house, and let me tell you, when you enter, you realise that the overall concept is. Boasting 3 cocktail bars, 2 restaurant rooms and the appropriate mood lighting and tasteful decor, the sound of piano jazz greets your ears. This is not a normal thing to expect of many curry establishments, but it made a nice change. They serve up a mixture of traditional curry dishes, but on top of that, spying their Christmas menu, they are offering a British twist for those who don't feel right about replacing their turkey and trimmings with a Chicken Tikka Masala. The food was nice, and hit the spot, although having said that, my chicken Dhansak hadn't so much as seen a lentil, which I found pretty bizarre. The naans were fresh and delicious and I particularly recommend the peshwari. Overall, I think it is the cocktail bar twist and atmoshpere of this place that really does it for me, offering a great dining experience for less than it would cost to acquire the same thing from a French/Italian/British fusion restaurant that you would find in town. If you hadn't believed there was such thing as going for a romantic curry, I think this place is the closest you'd find. ”
“ I went last Friday evening with friends to East for the first time and found it to be very good. It was very busy but we were allowed to go upstairs to the bar and have a drink and a chat first. When we went down we were shown to our seat straight away and it was comfortable. The food was delicious, though a bit filling and the prices were reasonable. The only let down we thought was the level of noise of other people's voices in the restaurant as we couldn't hear the music or each other very well. All in all it was very good and a nice evening out. ”
